10.15 km Morning Walk: A Strong Endurance Session
This morning’s walk was a good long session, taking me beyond the 10 km mark and giving me plenty of time on my feet.
I covered 10.15 km in 1 hour 38 minutes and 52 seconds, maintaining a steady average pace of 9:45 per kilometre. It was a controlled effort and a great way to work on endurance without needing to turn the session into a high-intensity workout.
Today’s Walk Stats
- Distance: 10.15 km
- Duration: 1 hour 38 minutes 52 seconds
- Average pace: 9:45 min/km
- Average heart rate: 109 bpm
- Maximum heart rate: 135 bpm
- Calories burned: 782 kcal
Over 10 km of Walking
Getting beyond 10 km makes this a worthwhile endurance session. Almost 99 minutes of continuous movement gives the body plenty of time to work, while the steady pace keeps the effort manageable.
The average pace of 9:45/km was consistent with the aim of making this a long, steady walk rather than trying to chase speed.
A Controlled Heart Rate
My average heart rate was 109 bpm, with a maximum of 135 bpm. The heart-rate breakdown shows just how controlled most of the session was.
- Extreme: 0 minutes
- Anaerobic: 1 minute
- Aerobic: 14 minutes
- Fat burning: 81 minutes
- Warm up: 1 minute
With 81 minutes recorded in the fat-burning zone and only 1 minute in the anaerobic zone, this was very much a steady endurance-focused walk.
782 Calories Burned
The session recorded 782 calories burned, which is a substantial amount of energy expenditure for a walking workout.
For me, though, the bigger achievement is the distance. Walking more than 10 km takes commitment, and getting close to 100 minutes of exercise is a great way to build a stronger endurance base.
Why Long Walks Matter
Not every workout needs to be fast or intense. Long, steady walks have their own place in a fitness routine.
They provide plenty of time moving, help build endurance and allow me to stay active without putting the same level of intensity through the body as a hard running session.
Today’s walk is a good example of that approach: a decent distance, a controlled pace and a heart rate that stayed relatively low for most of the session.
Another Solid Morning Session
Overall, I’m happy with today’s 10.15 km morning walk. Almost 1 hour and 39 minutes of steady exercise, more than 10 km covered and 782 calories recorded.
It’s another useful session for building fitness and endurance, and another reminder that consistent walking can add up to a lot of work over time.
