Morning Run to Tyrley Lock – Building Strength Through Consistency
This morning’s session combined steady running with a proper warm-up and cooldown, creating a balanced workout that focused on endurance rather than simply chasing speed.
The route followed the road before joining the canal towpath towards Tyrley Lock, offering a peaceful setting and a varied running surface. After completing the return journey, I finished with a 2.38 km walk through town to allow my heart rate to recover gradually.

The running pace built progressively throughout the session. After an easy opening kilometre, I settled into a consistent rhythm around the five-minute-per-kilometre mark before recording two strong kilometres at 4:40/km. The ninth kilometre included walking as I transitioned out of the run, followed by a relaxed cooldown walk through town.
Sessions like this reinforce an important lesson: not every run needs to be a personal best. Consistent training, sensible pacing, and taking time to warm up and cool down all contribute to long-term progress. Each run adds another step towards improved fitness, greater endurance, and continued enjoyment of being outdoors.
Some of the most rewarding runs aren’t defined by their fastest split but by finishing feeling strong and ready for the next challenge.
