Telford parkrun #172: 22:25 and 3rd in VM55-59

parkrun number 172 for me, and another enjoyable 5K at Telford.

I finished Telford parkrun in 22 minutes 25 seconds, finishing 53rd out of 543 runners. I was also 3rd in the VM55-59 age category, with an age grade of 70.33%.

A finish time of 22:25 works out at roughly 4:29 per kilometre, making this a strong pace for the 5K.

Finishing 53rd from 543 runners also put me comfortably inside the top 10% of the field, which is another result I’m pleased with.

The age-category result was another highlight. I finished 3rd out of 32 in the VM55-59 category.

It’s always satisfying to see where a run places you within your age group, and coming away with a top-three finish made parkrun number 172 even more memorable.

70.33% Age Grade

The run also gave me an age grade of 70.33%.

Age grading gives another way of looking at a parkrun performance, taking age into account rather than focusing only on the overall finishing position. Breaking the 70% mark is something I’m very happy with.

172 parkruns and Counting

Getting to 172 parkruns is a milestone in itself. Every event adds another 5K, another bit of experience and another opportunity to see how things are progressing.

Some parkruns are about chasing a time, while others are simply about turning up and enjoying the run. This one gave me plenty to be happy about.

A 22:25 finish, 53rd overall, 3rd in VM55-59, a 70.33% age grade and a course with 71.5 metres of climbing made this a very satisfying session.
